How to Push Your Kids to Save

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 1:52 pm

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about Motivation in the following paragraphs. If there’s at least one fact you didn’t know before, imagine the difference it might make.

Saving money is difficult in this day and age, especially with economies all over the world failing, and especially with a lot of people scrambling to get money that they should have saved years and years ago if only they had been more proactive. If you are regretting not being able to save much earlier, now is not too late. First, you can start setting money aside so that you can get more money to spend in the future. And second, you can teach your own kids to save so that they do not end up in any financial messes from which they cannot recover.

Saving money may not be an obligation for your kids, however, and it can therefore be difficult for them to get any work done if they do not feel that spending and saving are relevant to them. In fact, many kids are supported by their parents until they reach high school or college, and their conception of the value of money, not to mention the value of hard work, can be twisted, if not immature.

Moreover, with mass media structured the way it is, you need to contend with the social need to spend, spend, and spend on luxury, novelty items, or to simply meet trends. How do you bump up against this kind of mentality and save your kids from the poorhouse?

Here are a few tips that you could follow when you start thinking of how your kids should save.

You can see that there’s practical value in learning more about Motivation. Can you think of ways to apply what’s been covered so far?

- Set a good example. It can be difficult for your kids to simply save when they see you spending money at every chance that you get. Instead of going to the mall to get the latest DVD player or flat screen TV, take your kids to the park on Sundays and have a nice family lunch. Instead of going to a fancy restaurant routinely, go only on special occasions and teach your kids to budget their money.

- Save visibly. Have a jar set out where you can drop pennies and other spare change so that your children can see it eventually fill up. This way, they can set up their own jars too. Have a contest and turn it into a race: see who can fill up their jars the fastest and you can give more money to the best saver!

- Encourage your children to work over the summer. It can be hard to correlate work with earning money, and you can start your children early with this kind of life lesson. Start out small: give them small change for helping out with some chores, such as mowing the lawn, raking leaves up, or cleaning the upstairs bedroom. Encourage your kids to get together with their friends and put up a service, such as babysitting or house cleaning. Build on these lessons until your children rely on their own resources for money and job hunting.

- Have a savings account exclusively in your children’s names, but do not hand them credit cards! They need to have their own means to save and monitor their savings and spending, but do not provide them with the illusion that money is easy to spend, and all that they need is a piece of plastic.

- Have a Threshold Award. If your child reaches a certain point in his or her savings, offer to add to a certain amount of money to his or her account as a reward.

There’s no doubt that the topic of Motivation can be fascinating. If you still have unanswered questions about Motivation, you may find what you’re looking for in the next article.

How to Motivate and Bring Out the Best in Others

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 10:27 pm

Whether you’re a small team, an organization, a company or a family, you will need a lot of motivation to get things done and achieve a level of success. But motivation can be a tricky thing ? while it’s not complicated, it certainly is not something that a lot of people have automatic understanding for. So has the job of getting others excited and inspired fallen into your hands? Here are tips on how to motivate people and bring out the best in them:

Find the current level of motivation of the person you wish to motivate.
Each person, whether he is an employee, a co-worker, a team member or a family member, has some amount of motivation in him. Try to identify this level. What makes them tick? What do they find exciting, interesting or worthwhile? What are their goals? How do they hope to achieve them?

Do not try to approach the challenge in a generic way because you will be met with a lack of enthusiasm or even resistance. Use a personalized approach if you want to motivate an individual. With a group, look for a common denominator ? a common goal or interest ? that you can use to motivate them and get them to perform.

See things from their point of view.
It’s easy to explain things based on what you perceive. But what about what others see, think or feel? Each time you present an idea or concept to the person you want to motivate, ask them for their opinions and listen to what they have to say. You can then use information obtained from them in order to create a motivational plan that has the strongest appeal to them.

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

Use positive reinforcement.
Between pleasure and pain, people will always choose pleasure. Try to steer away from using negative motivational tactics such as fear or threats. These could work initially but they are not very effective for motivating people over a long term. Besides, using negative reinforcements might result to a feeling of annoyance, anger or exasperation. If not corrected early, this could even lead to aggression and rebellion.

Use rewards instead. To motivate people, give recognition, acknowledgment, gratitude, even gifts or citations. People want to know that you notice their hard work. Didn’t you say you expected the best? Once someone has risen to that level of excellence, give them the recognition they deserve. You’ll be surprised at how effective this technique is in keeping people motivated.

Show, don’t tell.
If you want to know how to effectively motivate people, show them through example. What sort of behavior do you expect from them? Why not show them by doing it yourself? They will be more willing to believe than if you just lecture and never show.

Don’t push.
It is said that you can’t lead a horse to water. When you’re trying to motivate people check to see if their willingness is still there. There is a point in every endeavor when you begin to meet with resistance. This could happen for a number of reasons, including boredom, distraction, discovery of other more interesting things or just simply lack of interest. It could also be that your motivational efforts have reached a plateau.

Should this happen, learn to let up, step back and if necessary, let go. People will be more motivated if they don’t feel pressured. If you sense a resistance, stop and check for identifiable factors that are stopping you. Once you have found them, design a different approach.

Now that wasn’t hard at all, was it? And you’ve earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert’s word on Motivation.

How to Motivate Employees

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 3:58 am

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you’ll find that the subject of Motivation is certainly no exception.

In this recession, one of the most challenging things is for a business to stay afloat. If you read the papers or turn on the television, there are reports of companies closing down and a lot of people being laid off. Such news is very disheartening and as an owner of a business, you have to know how to motivate your employees or be part of the statistic.

So how do you motivate your employees in these hard times? Well the first thing you have to do is talk to them so they are aware of the current financial status of the company. The bad news like sales are down is an eye opener because they know that the company is on a verge of collapse but there is hope.

The hope is what you and they must work together for otherwise, your business will crash and they will be out of work. This begins by setting a goal and then coming up with a plan of action.

Perhaps the best solution is to cut cost and that means finding cheaper suppliers and reducing expenses. Keep in mind that letting a few workers off is another option but you need these people so don’t axe them.

Another way is to come up with realistic goals like how much you should make in a month so your employees will get paid and the business is still profitable. As the owner of the business, you have the final say in these matters but it wouldn’t hurt to also let your employees come up with their own plan of action and meet the same goals.

You can see that there’s practical value in learning more about Motivation. Can you think of ways to apply what’s been covered so far?

All work and no play will make things dull. To spice up things, add some fun into it by coming up with a rewards scheme which always inspires employees to do more.

You don’t have to give a plaque of appreciation or something with monetary vale. What you can do is offer these people a free day which means a ?day-off? from work apart form the leaves that they are entitled to. Don’t forget that the day off should be given with pay which makes it more interesting to get.

Since this is something that every employee may not be able to accomplish, find a way to reward everyone as well for all the work they have put in. A good idea will be to host a barbecue at your place or a fun day where everyone is given free passes to a local amusement park. Remember these are just ideas so try to find a rewards scheme that is within your budget.

The success of your business depends on the men and women that work for you. So you know how things are doing and they are up to date with what is happening, it will also be a good idea to hold a meeting once a week.

While you are there, buy donuts and coffee. At the same time, give them the floor so they can air out their concerns. Who knows, they may even have a few ideas which you have never thought of before.

Employee motivation is something you must have in order for your business to stay afloat. Doing that is not going to be easy but it can be done with their help.

How to Increase Your Employees? Motivation

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 7:59 pm

The more you understand about any subject, the more interesting it becomes. As you read this article you’ll find that the subject of Motivation is certainly no exception.

With the depressing things happening in the economy, employees are in a slump about their lives. Some will also be depressed because of the ways things are going for them and this depression can severely affect their lives in general especially the work that they put in. Because of this,, it is important for managers to take care of their employees’ wellbeing and increase their motivation levels.

It may not be easy doing this but it can be done. It is possible to create a positive and motivated environment even at these times of economic hardships. Here are some of the things that you can do to get your people to stay motivated and on task.

1. Give them rewards.
One of the best and perhaps easiest ways to motivate people is to give then rewards for a job well done. People are basically materialistic and they want something concrete for their efforts. This is especially true now that people want resources in addition to what they are already earning. Rewards are also instant things that they can easily connect with their achievements and efforts.

You can tie up monetary rewards for instance with their performance levels. Those who have perfect attendance or those who are never late can also be given rewards for their efforts. You can reward a lot of things, not just achievement.

I trust that what you’ve read so far has been informative. The following section should go a long way toward clearing up any uncertainty that may remain.

2. Give them words of encouragement
There are some people who do not really care about the material gains. What they mostly care about is to know that they are doing a great job. You can reward them by words instead of material things. Praising is perhaps the less expensive thing that you can do to boost the morale of your people. Besides upping the level of motivation, you will also be creating a more together and bonded atmosphere in the company. People who praise their people are better looked up to as managers as opposed to those who do not say anything or those who only have disparaging remarks.

3. Interact with them
Being a manager, people will see you as something beyond their reach. Some will even see you with awe in their eyes. Reaching out to them and talking to them will be a great treat for your employees. This is especially true if you do not do this often. The shock effect will give your employees a certain feeling of togetherness and belongingness that they need to feel good about themselves and their jobs. Besides, with the boss talking to them, they will certainly feel more confident and more able to perform on the tasks given to them. After all, who would not want to be able to talk to the boss as if he or she is just a friend.

Motivation is an important thing in business. The level of motivation that your people have will affect the performance that they will put in for their work. Ultimately, their performance will affect the company’s production level. Having well-motivated people is something that you should not let slip by the radar. If you want to really perform well in the market especially at these times when survival is important, take a look at your employees.

They may not be as motivated as you would want them to be. By increasing their motivation levels, you will basically ensuring the survival of your company.

It never hurts to be well-informed with the latest on Motivation. Compare what you’ve learned here to future articles so that you can stay alert to changes in the area of Motivation.

How to Motivate People to Do Good

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 1:23 pm

This interesting article addresses some of the key issues regarding Motivation. A careful reading of this material could make a big difference in how you think about Motivation.

It’s a common problem no matter where you are, and whether you’re gathering donations for your church or a charitable organization: you can really have a hard time motivating people to do good. Try as you might, you will always bump against people who do not think that going to a homeless shelter for a night of volunteering is not as worthwhile as going to the club.

No matter how hard you work at it, it can be hard to convince people to help you fold clothes or gather canned goods for the less fortunate, especially when they have jobs that they think are more important than any other earthly activity. And no matter what you do, there will be people who will criticize your work as being a band-aid to other problems that should be solved.

Despite all these criticisms and setbacks, you should be able to do the work that you want without worrying about what people think. Moreover, you should be able to bank on a willingness on your part to motivate people to do what they can to help your cause out. How do you motivate people to do good? Here are a few tips that you may want to take into consideration.

- When starting off your marketing blitz to get people to listen to you, keep in mind that you are not preaching to the choir, but neither are you trying to make devils listen to you. You will have a healthy mix of people who both want to help and who don’t really care. The key is to hit your note in the middle and not end up alienating any of them.

The more authentic information about Motivation you know, the more likely people are to consider you a Motivation expert. Read on for even more Motivation facts that you can share.

By being too solicitous and too pity-inducing, you end up irritating the people who don’t care yet. By being too appealing to people’s emotions, you may end up annoying the people who already do care and want to help out. Avoid being self-righteous or off handed. Remember, when you want to help people, you don’t want to show how helpful you already are.

- Avoid using negative language, such as, ?Don’t go to the club tonight when you can help people!? You don’t want people to feel that they are doing something that they should substitute with something that you are endorsing. This could lead them into thinking that you are trying to change them, and whenever people feel that their feelings and perceptions are being attacked, they will go on the defensive.

- If you are working with a charitable organization, try to tie in your work with something enjoyable. Have a dance party or rent out the club for a party and charge for entrance. Promise that you will give proceeds from your earnings to a charitable organization or cause. Have people dress up in costumes, and then give prizes away for the best costume, and ask people to bring canned goods with them.

Find a way to tie in your cause to something that people could do and have fun with. You want to look human, too, and you want to get as many people as possible. Just be sure to stay within the bounds of decency and you will be fine.

- Lastly, surround yourself with reputable people. No one wants to donate a cause that is associated with gangsters, thieves, or anyone who doesn’t have a solid enough reputation. You want to have people around you that anyone can look up to and admire.

Quick Tips to Motivate Your Kids in Sports

Category: MotivationAnders Eriksson @ 3:31 am

Sports allow kids to learn and master a variety of skills. Not only does it make kids more physically fit, but sports can also give kids the opportunity to interact, build friendship, communicate better, and learn important qualities like sportsmanship, teamwork, and diligence. But before all that, you need to convince your child first to leave his or her toys behind and give sports a try.

Find out where your kid’s interests lie.
Don’t assume anything. Just because your kid’s a boy doesn’t mean he’s automatically interested in basketball or football. At the same time, just because your kid’s a girl doesn’t mean she’s inclined to prefer a sport with less physical contact such as tennis or volleyball.

Although genetics and family history could influence your child’s preferences in sports, they can only do so at a certain extent. It’s not unheard of to have a badminton-loving member in a golf-playing family.

You need to listen instead of making any assumptions. Of course, there’s also a possibility that your child himself is still unsure of the type of sports he’s interested in. If so, it’s your job to ask leading questions. Does he enjoy playing outdoors or indoors? Does he prefer to play games focused on speed, stamina, or strategy? Answers to such questions will give you a clue on the kind of sport your kid is most likely to enjoy.

Start at home.
Don’t immediately enroll your kid in a sports clinic the moment you discover where his interests lie. Rather, see how far his liking for the sports goes by playing a game or two in your backyard or outside your house. Throw or pitch a couple of balls and see if he’s entertained. More importantly, practicing at home will give your child the opportunity to explore his decision and determine for himself if the sport’s indeed something he’d enjoy playing.

The best time to learn about Motivation is before you’re in the thick of things. Wise readers will keep reading to earn some valuable Motivation experience while it’s still free.

Prove how enjoyable sports can be.
Another way of motivating your child to participate in sports is to show them by example how enjoyable such activities can be. Play with them. Better yet, invite a few friends and some of his playmates even and play a game or two.

Give him exposure.
Let him know more about the different kinds of sports and why it’s enjoyable for so many people. Watch a game on TV or, if possible, watch it live. There’s nothing more impressive ? and convincing ? than when you’re watching a game in a crowded stadium and everyone around you is having a good time. Visit sports shops as well and point out to him the different kinds of equipment he might have to use in sports.

Choose the right setting.
Some kids prefer to practice sports alone before joining a sports camp. Other kids, however, prefer immediate action and interaction. Choosing the appropriate setting for your kid will help him know and enjoy sports more.

Be supportive.
You need to make sure your child understand that your goals for having him join sport is to see him happy and, of course, have him become healthier and stronger. Although winning a game would be nice, it isn’t your ultimate goal and neither should it be for him.

He’s your kid first, an athlete second.
Most importantly of all, do remember that he is your child first and being an athlete is only his secondary role. Motivate him with that thought in mind and you’ll do fine.
